Tomato daal rasam
For preparing about 6 to 7 cups of rasam
Ingredients:
1. Tomato – 2
2. Toor daal – 1/2 cup
3. Tamarind – a lump(to the size of small lemon)
4. Jaggery – Double than the size of Tamarind
5. Salt – about 2 tsp.
For Rasam powder:
1. Methi seeds – 1/2 tsp.
2. Coriander seeds – 3 tsp.
3. Jeera – 1 tsp.
4. Hing a pinch
5. Curry leaf – 5 to 6
6. Red chillies – 3 to 4
Fry methi seeds, Coriander seeds, Jeera and red chillies with 1 spoon of oil in a pan till methi seeds becomes brownish. Now add hing and curry leaf, fry a little. Grind this to a fine powder.
Method:
Cook toor daal and tomatoes. Soak tamarind in water for 3 minutes and prepare a juice. Add cooked tomatoes, salt, jaggary and rasam powder to cooked toor daal. Add enough water and boil it again. Finally add chopped coriander leaf.
